Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT): Your Gateway to Business School

What is GMAT?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized exam used by business schools around the world to assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. The GMAT is developed and administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is widely regarded as an essential component of the application process for MBA and other graduate business programs.

  • Test Structure

    The GMAT is designed to evaluate skills in analytical writing, quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and integrated reasoning. The test consists of four main sections:

  • Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

    • Duration: 30 minutes
    • Task: You will be asked to analyze an argument and write a critique, evaluating its logical soundness. This section assesses your ability to think critically and communicate your ideas effectively.
  • Integrated Reasoning (IR)

    • Duration: 30 minutes
    • Number of Questions: 12 questions
    • Task: The IR section measures your ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats (graphs, tables, etc.) and from multiple sources. It includes the following question types: Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphics Interpretation, Two-Part Analysis, Table Analysis.
  • Quantitative Reasoning

    • Duration: 62 minutes
    • Number of Questions: 31 questions
    • Task: This section tests your ability to reason quantitatively, solve quantitative problems, and interpret graphic data. It includes: Problem-Solving: Requires you to use mathematical reasoning to solve problems. Data Sufficiency: Asks you to determine whether the data provided is sufficient to answer the question.
  • Verbal Reasoning

    • Duration: 65 minutes
    • Number of Questions: 36 questions
    • Task: The Verbal section evaluates your ability to read and comprehend written material, reason and evaluate arguments, and correct written material to conform to standard written English. It includes: Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, Sentence Correction.
  • Scoring

    • Total Score: The total GMAT score ranges from 200 to 800, combining the Quantitative and Verbal sections. Scores are given in 10-point increments.
    • Score Validity: GMAT scores are valid for five years.
